Science fiction is all the rage lately. It’s interesting to me the different kind of stories and characters that could spring up from one genre. Some of us may not believe in Astrology, but we’re curious just the same to read about our horoscope in the daily newspaper. What if humanity was divided up into each astrological sign and people would live life based on the traits each sign represents? That’s where you get Romina Russell’s Zodiac.
It’s the first book of a series, which meshes science fiction with high fantasy. The story follows Rhoma Grace (friends and family call her Rho for short). She’s from House Cancer. When a violent blast strikes the moons of Cancer, sending its ocean planet off-kilter and killing thousands of citizens—including its beloved Guardian—Rho is more surprised than anyone when she is named the House’s new leader. But, a true Cancerian who loves her home fiercely and will protect her people no matter what, Rho accepts her new role. Then, when more Houses fall victim to freak weather catastrophes, Rho starts seeing a pattern in the stars. She suspects Ophiuchus—the exiled 13th Guardian of Zodiac legend—has returned to seek his revenge across the Galaxy.
