Book Haul: Winter Releases 2015

winter-snow-2015

Snow has finally arrived in my part of the neighbourhood! While it would have been wonderful to have snow on Christmas day, it’s better late than never. Living in Canada, I, as well as other Canadians, love their seasons and I was starting to miss the snow. Winter isn’t really winter without a little white on the ground. Now is the best time to curl up on the couch, sitting by the fire with a cup of hot chocolate and marshmallows alongside a good book. While blockbuster movies’ time to shine is during the summertime, Fall is a big deal in the book publishing industry. During the autumn season, all the highly anticipated books are released. Tons of readers, book lovers, and bloggers eagerly await for the books they are most excited for. I’ve been lucky enough to get my hands on early copies of some of the great books coming out this Fall.

Here are the books that are now calling my shelves home:

On a hot and sunny Sunday, May 3, I attended the Ottawa Book Blogger Meetup. It took place in a private room at The Works in Westboro. In a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, I ate lunch and talked about books with fellow book bloggers. I finally met a few of the Ottawa bloggers I’ve spoken to online. Continue reading

Book Haul: Building My Library: Book Outlet Christmas Haul Edition

building-my-library-image

Building My Library is my personal weekly book haul meme. I share the books that I’m adding to my reading collection. This will include: books I buy from the store or online, borrow from friends or the public library,  advanced reading copies (books for review), gifts, audio books, and ebooks.

I’m a little behind on this one, but here it is.  I treated myself to some books for Christmas, mostly ones that would complete my series collections or ones that I wasn’t 100% committed to unless I got it for a cheaper price. I’ve always wanted to try out Book Outlet because I’ve heard of the great bargains from other book bloggers. My Book Outlet haul only cost me $30 (that includes shipping and all the books were hard covers); I saved over $100!

Here are the books that have been calling my shelves home since Christmas 2014:

Birthday Girl & her Birthday Book Haul

It’s my party and I’ll…buy books if I want to! That’s right—it’s my birthday!

As I get older, I’m a lot more into low key celebrating, but I still have my own fun. Of course, as a blogger, I figured I’d document what I did and share it with you. Continue reading

Book Haul: Building My Library #5

building-my-library-image

Building My Library is my personal weekly book haul meme. I share the books that I’m adding to my reading collection. This will include: books I buy from the store or online, borrow from friends or the public library,  advanced reading copies (books for review), gifts, audio books, and ebooks.

With the sunny summer weather here, I’ve been taking every opportunity I can to read outdoors. There’s just something about the warm sun on your face, the cool breeze, the soft grass beneath your feet, and happy birds singing in the background that adds a sense of joy and peace to your reading experience. If you get a chance, visit a beach or park with a book in hand! Sometimes you don’t have to travel far for a relaxing spot too. I’ve been enjoying my backyard and garden, sometimes even with a drink in hand. Summer is a great time to get some reading done.

Here are the books that are calling my shelves home this week:
