A giant mythical dragon-horse and spider roam the streets of Ottawa this weekend. To celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday, the city of Ottawa organized an incredible event and experience like no other. The live performance is called: The Spirit of the Dragon-horse: The Stolen Wings. It was created by Francois Delaroziere, the Artisitic Director of La Machine, a French theatre production company.

Happy Valentine’s Day & Happy Reading!
Sometimes, the best books are the ones that you haven’t discovered yet. I’ve been a reader and book lover for as long as I can remember. While I am picky about the books I read and trust my own judgments about which ones I’d like to read next, I do welcome book recommendations, especially from trusted book nerds such as myself. At times, it’s a hit and miss. But when someone shares a gem, it’s a wonderful experience to become a fan of a book other people have grown to love too.
On a hot and sunny Sunday, May 3, I attended the Ottawa Book Blogger Meetup. It took place in a private room at The Works in Westboro. In a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, I ate lunch and talked about books with fellow book bloggers. I finally met a few of the Ottawa bloggers I’ve spoken to online. Continue reading
Advent calendars are a running tradition in my family and it is a fun way to countdown to Christmas. The most common one is opening the tiny doors to little treats of chocolate. This year Penguin Canada is helping book lovers celebrate the holidays with their Daily December Delights holiday campaign.
Every day you can check their website, clicking on the appropriate day to find a different featured book as well as enter for prizes, exclusive giveaways, and partake in fun trivia and quizzes. Visiting the website often allows you a better chance to win their grand prize too – $750 worth of books!
I can definitely build a mini library for myself with that much.
The campaign runs from December 1 to December 31, so you have loads of time to enter to either expand your own book collection or win a few prizes for the book lover in your family.
Join the discussion on their social networks, using #PenguinDelights.

This post is long overdue, but I wanted to share my experience meeting the lovely and geek-tastic Kat Kruger, the author of The Night has Teeth.
On January 29, a very rainy night, I met up with a few friends and book lovers at the quaint book shop called Type Books. They hosted Kat’s book launch and set her up in a space of her own, where her fans could get their books signed and have a chat with her. There was a table nearby with goodies: cupcakes, wolf paw chocolates, and Fierce Ink Press stickers. Continue reading
I had the pleasure of being a part of Penguin Canada’s first blogger event last week with authors Adrienne Kress (The Friday Society) and Morgan Rhodes (Falling Kingdoms). Arriving in the conference room, it was filled with excited, chattering bloggers. It was awesome seeing a few familiar faces and getting to know new ones.
While nibbling on some delicious pizza and colourful cupcakes, everyone listened as an interviewer from Faze Magazine began an informative but informal interview with the authors.
